Xihe Peking Duck: Reviews & Ratings

Tried the half portion of the signature Peking duck (around $38.80) after being introduced by my brother, who had the quarter portion delivered during work one day. Despite the restaurant’s modest size, they seriously deliver on flavour and quality. The duck was outstanding — crispy skin, tender meat, and authentic, flavorful sauces. Honestly, I wished there was more skin than meat (the way we’re used to in Hong Kong!), but the quality still impressed. Typically if u order in restaurants of Hong Kong or China, the duck meat would be used for a second dish like fried rice or stir-fried veggies, and a lot more skin for the wraps! What really stood out was the thoughtful packaging: everything stayed fresh and warm until I got home, and each component was neatly arranged, making assembly easy and satisfying. It's clear they’ve invested in good design and presentation — great for their brand and for the customer experience. The duck pancakes were soft with great texture, and I loved the addition of cucumber sticks and scallions. I wasn’t personally a fan of the hawthorn slices with the duck, but that’s a minor detail in an otherwise stellar meal. Will definitely order again when I’m craving Peking duck — especially at this price point, which feels like a solid save compared to high-end Chinese restaurants. If you’re after great flavour, solid value, and smart presentation, give this place a try.

Great service! The menu was captivating and funny! Quack fries The packagings are sturdy and nice. We got the package that came with spicy noodles, Quack fries, Peking duck, sauces, flaky Quack-wich. Duck is crispy. Taste great!

I bought the wrap and it’s disappointing if i paid almost $11 for almost all veggies. I’m still giving 4 stars because the pecking duck is good, but for the wrap, it’s not like what i expected

The shop is a specialized Peking Duck restaurant without dine in. They are only serving Peking Duck.We ordered the Quack wich and the whole Sigurature Peking duck that is including the steamed pancakes, side dishes and sauce. The Quack wich is average but the Peking duck is really good. The taste is comparable to other dine in restaurants or even better than them. It is an excellent idea or ordering for party. Yummy!

Solid place for a quick Peking duck meal. Lunch set comes with a bunch of steamed wrappers, quarter duck, sauce and toppings. The spicy noodles could be a lot more saucy, they were quite dry. Cuts of duck were good but doesn't look like a full quarter...?

I always thought of Peking duck has more of a dine-in meal, but XiHe offers a convenient and delicious way to enjoy it as takeout! They have a variety of menu options and combos ranging from 1-2 person meals to a box set for the family. The quality of the food is delicious, they have a lot of amazing side dishes as well, would definitely recommend checking it out if you’re in North York, looking the splurge on some delicious takeout.

I saw mixed reviews about Xihe Peking Ducksome people said it was great, while others mentioned small portions or that there was more skin than meat. Still, I decided to give it a try and ordered half a duck for takeout. Maybe because I didn’t have high expectations, I was pleasantly surprised! The duck skin was crispy, the meat was tender and juicy, and it wasn’t greasy at all. Everything paired perfectly with the thin steamed pancakes, shredded green onions, cucumber strips, peking duck sauce, and hawthorn sticks. I especially loved their peking duck sauce, it’s much better than the usual ones from most Chinese restaurants, not just sweet or salty but more balanced and flavorful. Now I’m really curious whether their steamed pancakes are handmade or factory-made . Overall, it was a great experience and I’d definitely order from them again when I crave Peking duck. The only thing I’d say is that the portion size is a bit small for the price , hopefully, they can improve that in the future!

Located in the heart of North York, Xihe Peking Duck stands out as a dedicated wok restaurant with a clear focus: delivering an authentic Peking duck experience. Nestled at 7 Byng Ave, this modest-sized eatery may not offer dine-in seating, but its specialty shines brightly through its signature Peking duck, which comes highly praised by patrons for its rich flavour and careful preparation.

The hallmark of Xihe’s offerings is their signature Peking duck, which strikes a commendable balance between crispy skin and succulent tender meat. The duck’s skin crisps beautifully, capturing that classic crunch that aficionados seek, while the meat remains juicy and flavorful—a testament to meticulous roasting techniques. What impresses most is the attention to detail in presentation and packaging; the neatly arranged components, from the soft steamed pancakes to the fresh cucumber sticks and scallions, arrive fresh and warm, making assembly at home a simple yet satisfying ritual.

Complementing the duck are thoughtful sauces that elevate each bite with authentic tang and depth. Though some diners note an unexpected inclusion of hawthorn slices, the overall harmony between components remains strong. The side dishes, like the spicy noodles and the inventive “Quack fries,” add variety and fun, enhancing the meal’s casual yet quality-focused vibe.

While there are mixed reviews on items such as the duck wrap, which some found overly vegetable-heavy, the core offering—the Peking duck itself—consistently earns high marks for flavor parity with pricier, high-end Chinese restaurants. It’s a solid choice for those craving traditional Peking duck without the formality or expense of a dine-in experience. The service is friendly, and the playful menu design adds a modern touch that resonates well with a diverse clientele.

In summary, Xihe Peking Duck merges culinary tradition with smart service and presentation. Whether you are hosting a party or seeking a quick, authentic duck meal to enjoy at home, their signature Peking duck delivers a satisfying, flavourful journey that stays true to classic roots. Worth a try for aficionados and newcomers alike, especially given the value it offers compared to its high-end counterparts.
